La La Land Kind Cafe

LA LA LAND KIND CAFE

LOCATION: SANTA MONICA, CA
OWNER: FRANCOIS REIHANI
ARCHITECT: JAGAR ARCHITECTURE

Originated from Dallas, TX, La La Land Kind Cafe expanded to their first California location on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. The a one-of-a-kind restaurant is known for pushing forward, post-pandemic, with its message of kindness, “doing good over profits” and its mission of giving a chance to kids who have aged out of the foster care system. In the heart of Santa Monica, at 1426 Montana Ave., the La La Land “Kind” Cafe serves up a variety of coffee, tea and matcha beverages as well as organic food menu items.

Howard CDM converted the existing 1,200 SF building into a light and airy cafe. Scope of work included a non-structural interior improvement, new kitchen equipment at the service area, as well as new power/lighting fixtures. The client, Francois Reihani of We Are One Project, focuses his non-profit to give a foundation and mentorship to foster youth so they can learn the necessary life and job skills to lead happy lives. Through the organic cafe, La La Land Kind Cafe, the goal is to create a welcoming space where everyone can feel they are part of something bigger than themselves, all over a cup of coffee or matcha, or many other featured drinks.
