ROBERTSON PLAZA

LOCATION: LOS ANGELES, CA
OWNER: ROBERTSON PROPERTIES GROUP
ARCHITECT: HONGJOO KIM LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS

Howard CDM completed the renovation and restoration of the 15,328 SF entry plaza to Robertson Plaza. The project included the demolition of the existing plaza topping and bridge that connected the 116 and 120 buildings to open up the plaza for more natural light.

Working in concert with specialty hardscape concrete contractor Shaw & Sons, Howard CDM resolved a complex grade and drainage plan made more difficult by the limited additional loading that the existing deck could accommodate along with maintaining the existing building entry elevations. The project included the installation of a new waterproof membrane, the installation of seven custom precast concrete planters, weighing over 30,000 pounds each, which not only required structural reinforcement of the deck using carbon fiber reinforcement but the shoring of the two parking garage levels below during their placement.

Varied concrete types and colors were used throughout the plaza requiring multiple pours and allowed for the visual appeal of unique textures in the plaza. Howard CDM also added new SS railings, landscaping, irrigation and decorative lighting and restored the existing stone facade.
